Reconfigure and extend racking runs and install carton flow storage.

Design Brief: Reorganise existing racking system to improve overall pallet capacity. Install Interroll Carton Versi Flow storage racking to optimise order picking for small orders.

Warehouse Storage Solution Overview: This project involved converting two runs of existing racking to house euro pallets. One run was also extended and fitted with anti-collapse mesh on the rear. In addition, two levels of carton flow pallet racking were added on either side of the aisle.

Carton flow technology works on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) principle. Great for handling containers of varying sizes, it is also an ideal choice as it is easily retrofitted to existing racking without the need for any modifications.

The shelves are installed on a slight incline. Goods can then be simultaneously loaded and unloaded on to the rack as they will slide down on rollers from the rear to the front. Interroll Carton Versi Flow was selected to condense the pick face and improve the volumetric storage for box picks.

The work had to take place over two weekends to avoid disruption to the day to day running of the warehouse.
